Someone please get the bat from the hallway.

Well, it's 6am CEST, and I'm pretty much wide awake. I did manage to sleep five good hours. I was woken up by a sound in the hall. I thought it was someone coming in the door, but then I heard squeaking, and a lot of it. Loud, high pitched squeaks. The windows in all the rooms open wide and their aren't screens. I have a feeling there is a bat trapped out there. I don't want to have anything to do with that. I hope some one figures it out before I get up...

It has been raining pretty hard off and on through the night. I wish it would keep it up without stopping for a while.

I arrived in Friedrichshafen yesterday around 12:30. I took a train to Romanshorn, and then a ferry to Friedrichshafen. The trip was a little stressful, just because I didn't know what I was doing and I didn't want to get on the wrong train or ferry, but it was also really beautiful on both.

Once I arrived, I had a buddy set up by the school who was supposed to meet me. We set up a place, but when I got my train ticket, it was going somewhere different, and I couldn't get emails or calls or anything. We tried to communicate, but it was a crazy mess. I ended up getting here and being completely lost. My phone was doing strange things when I tried to call, but finally it worked, and we found each other. It was really stressful for a little bit, but it worked out, and she is really great.
She took me to my apartment, where there is no elevator or A/C or wifi...
Easy fix for the wifi, there's a wired connections, so I just needed an ethernet cable. Before we could figure that out, I was pretty much freaking out, thinking I would never be able to talk to my family again. It's fine, I'm wired now. And it's free! woohoo!
The windows open real wide, so that helps with the no A/C. Only thing is, when it cooled off enough outside to cool my apartment, the bugs came out, and inside to hang out with me. So, I closed them back up, mostly. Its hot, but I'd rather not have little bugs all over the place.
We went to a supermarket and I got a few things, then we went and had ice cream and dinner. My favorite thing in Switzerland was that everyone walked around with ice cream or a popsicle. Old people, young people, business men, and hipsters. No one was immune to the thrill of ice cream there. I'm excited to say it is similar here. Not quite as much, but there were a lot of ice cream cones being held down by the lake.

So, I am unpacked and settled in. I think we're going back to the supermarket again today to get all the things I've realized I will need. I'm used to normal things just being at my house, like dish towels and hangers. Thanks to my buddy Sarah for reminding me yesterday about toilet paper and bottled water. It would have been a long night.

I think I'll try to go back to sleep now. Yeah, probably not gonna happen...
